MacKenzie and Kurt met through her sister’s group of friends during their last year at UC Santa Barbara. Kurt had already graduated two years earlier, but suddenly found himself on campus pretty often again. 😉
While they were originally planning on getting married in Santa Barbara, plans took a new direction and led them farther up the coast to Cuffey’s Cove in Elk, California. I’m so glad it did!
This venue is absolutely magical. From the farmhouse built in the 1800’s where Mackenzie got married, to the barn where they held their reception, to the foggy and jagged coast line [which is even more beautiful than the popular Big Sur], this sleepy little town is the definition of a picture perfect rustic wedding.
But even better than the venue was Mackenzie and Kurt. They are both just genuinely nice, salt-of-the-earth folk. Not too wrapped up in the details – but just present with each other and their family and friends with them that day. Mackenzie was brave enough to let me take her out in the rain for a little private first look spot where they exchanged their vows. During the ceremony, it began misting again – but these two rocked on and embraced it. During the ceremony, I couldn’t stop laughing listening to the sweet (and hilarious) toasts and roasts by their parents and siblings. It was a good time.
And can we talk about their incredibly adorable two year old daughter, Kiera?! These three are the perfect little family together.
I can’t express what a privilege it was to meet these two and capture this gorgeous couple and their day. Congrats, Mackenzie and Kurt!
